Lik Wong (Riki-Oh) Video Clip Collection

Intro

Main

But I admit when it comes to the martial arts movies that inspired Tarantino to make this film, I am pretty clueless. So I did a little research which led to other worlds (not literally but figuratively). One of the best finds was the immensely entertaining Japanese Manga-based film Lik Wong, renamed in the USA (for obvious reasons) as Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky. It obviously lacks the production quality of Kill Bill, but maybe it was an inspiration for some of the gore and humor? Enjoy these video clips...

Don't drop the soap, Riki!

Whoever thought up this scene needs counseling.

My jaw hurts for days after watching this.

Riki sure can fight better than he picks mentally stable girlfriends.

I think even tarantino admits that one of his biggest influences for kill bill was Park Chan-Wook's Vengeance Trilogy (Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Oldboy, and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance)... which he apes pretty heavily in kill bill. The basic revenge story, the thematic elements, and overall tone are so similar that you could almost mistake Kill Bill 1&2 to be another installment to the series if it wasn't in a different language.
